BATSICCHA Membership

Picture
BATSICCHA is a Community Controlled organisation that was founded by the leadership and direction of the Brisbane Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Community. As an Indigenous governed and operated organisation that delivers housing & accommodation services, and related social and economic projects and capacity building initiatives, it is paramount that we work in consort with our community and local people, to receive input and direction on the planning, delivery and evaluation of services, now and into the future.

Our majority Indigenous Board is elected from the Company's Membership, comprising local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people residing in the Greater Brisbane Area. In addition to supporting the continuity and accountability of our Company's leadership, Members also provide vital input and feedback regarding the planning and delivery of services and current and future community needs & priorities for response.

BATSICCHA identifies community engagement and increasing the profile of the Company as a strategic priority. We strive to provide accessible and culturally secure engagement pathways for local Indigenous people to provide feedback and direction on current and future BATSICCHA services. We have a current Tenant & Consumer Charter, as well as an existing Community Engagement Strategy.

BATSICCHA has recently implemented revised communication strategies and expanded pathways for Member, tenant and consumer engagement. For the next three years, we have set a target to increase local engagement and Membership numbers, through a combination of targeting new membership sign-ons and follow-up to existing Members for membership renewal. Targeted efforts that increase current and future Membership outcomes and engagement levels are paramount for the continued relevance and accountability of our services, and to support continuity and quality of leadership for our current and future generations.

To be eligible for BATSICCHA Membership, applicants must be:
- over 18 years of age
- identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
- reside in the Greater Brisbane Area
- have relevant experience and/or understanding of Community and social services sectors
